Our family had the brilliant idea to try to buy a house in the worst housing market in the last five decades. As first time home owners we had no idea what we were doing, nor how bad the market was this year (if we had known, we wouldn't have even bothered trying). As luck would have it, we got connected to Tony by accident, in response to a Zillow query to see a house last fall, a few months before we were actually ready to start the buying process. We were upfront with Tony that we were just trying to get a sense of the market and were not planning on making any offers yet, but he encouraged us to still go and see the house, even though some offers had already been made on it, and that it would likely be off the market that evening (and it was). This first interaction exemplified our experience with him ever since. His priority, then and throughout our buying process, was always to make sure that we had all the information we needed to make the right decision for our family. We never felt rushed, never felt pressured, and he never tried to upsell us to more expensive houses. On the contrary; he always tried to help us not only think through what it is that we actually needed, but also how good of a value the houses we were seeing were. We feel that we could completely trust him to have our best interests in mind, and to help us figure out what we wanted to do. We have no doubt that his highest priority in this whole process was to make sure we find something that we would be happy with. And despite the crazy market, that's exactly what happened. A few key things about working with Tony: he is incredibly responsive and well organized. He always got back to us quickly to email, text messages, and phone calls, and whenever he didn't know something we asked him--and we asked him many, many, many questions--he would do the research and get back to us when he had an informed answer. All aspects of the buying process went really smoothly, in huge part due to Tony's carefully working through all the paperwork and making sure that everything was correct and filed on time. Tony also makes himself available for showings at a short notice, and he went out of his way to make sure we could see not only all the places we were interested in but also houses that we needed to see to calibrate what we needed and what different kinds of houses cost. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area, and was able to help us think through tradeoffs of different locations and different types of housing. Last but not least, he is extremely personable and is joy to be around. Given that we spent more time with him for a few months than with any other human being outside of our family, this is tremendously important. I really hope that we don't have to do this process again any time soon (like for decades). But if we do, and Tony is still working, he would be the first person we would call.
